At the conclusion of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League ( IPL) in the UAE . BCCI will be preparing a farewell match for MS Dhoni, as per the board official.
The decision of Dhoni to withdraw from international cricket after staying away from competitive cricket for more than a year . It has not come as a shock to anyone . However, the way the former Indian captain decided to part with Team India was surprising . Dhoni announced his decision at 7:29 p.m. on 15 August with a post on Instagram . Tributes have since been pouring in for the former Indian captain . Who led the country to numerous memorable victories under his reign.
A BCCI official recently revealed that the Board is looking to schedule a farewell match for Dhoni . . The final of the IPL 200 will be played on November 10, after which the board will be able to arrange Dhoni’s last game in the Indian jersey . “There’s no international series right now, maybe after IPL, we’ll see what can be done because Dhoni has done a lot for the country and he deserves all respect . We’ve always wanted a good-bye match for him, but Dhoni is a different player . He declared his retirement when nobody thought about it,” said IANS, a senior BCCI official.
The BCCI official also stated that the board had not yet talked to Dhoni about a good-bye game . But they would also organize a congratulation ceremony for Dhoni . The official said it would be an honor for the BCCI to congratulate the 39-year-old on his contributions to Indian cricket . And the legacy he has left behind .
“No, but we’re sure to talk to him during the IPL, because that’s the best place to get his opinion on a match or series . Well, there’s going to be a proper congratulations ceremony for him, no matter whether he agrees or doesn’t . That’s going to be our pleasure to congratulate him,” the official informed IANS.
Later, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren urged the BCCI to hold a farewell match for Dhoni in his hometown of Ranchi . Dhoni led India in 332 international matches across the formats and achieved almost everything he had to do as captain . The 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy were some of his greatest achievements as captain . He also led India to be number one in the Test rankings for the first time under his leadership . Team won two Asia Cups to go with the three major ICC trophies.
